So on my Dr’s advise I headed to the Swine Flu Clinic after my workout and arrived about 1115 about 20 mins later they closed the line and stated there was a 4 1/’2 wait.
So a few anxiety attacks and sweating bullets for most of it I came out alive. The whole thing was a total cluster fuck. They handed out the questionnaire and didn’t even tell you if you choose yes to any of them if you would be treated. Imagine if you waited 4 hours to find out you couldn’t get the shot.
Waiting in line for 4 hours is something a solider is use to so it wasn’t that bad, but there was people in the 350 lb range (women) dragging chairs and not letting the elder sit down. Two people brought dogs with them as they pissed on the floor they ignored it. One even took out a hearing aid label for her dog, and with no hearing aids she was carrying on pretty good. I spent the afternoon twisting to get people to talk to my good ear.
The came the needle the nurse jabbed me pretty hard, and I could help telling her so as well. I guess after 500 people that day you get sloppy. But it’s all good now and just have to wait for the regular shot now.

When you have a hobby that occupies your time and keeps you busy alot of your problems are temporarily forgotten, and just when you think you are addicted to yours you meet someone more in tuned with theirs.
We had a wind storm in Kingston Monday afternoon and night too much waves to get a boat out the Windsurfers took to the lake. It wasn’t long before the newbies got out of the water, but the godfather of windsurfing in Kingston was all over the harbour while his students and team mates watched as waves crashed over the breakwater.
One thing about a good wind many people head to the lake to see the waves.

Photos from the waterfront here.

After a great workout today and watching the cyclist driveby in the rain during that portion of the K-town Tri. I headed to the store and picked up three more students for testing in the OW checkout portion of the PADI OW course only one was sort of trained by me after some remedial so I have now got 4 ready for the final dives on either the Aloha/Effie Mae (one dive not a double like some charter ops do) or Wolfe Islander if the girls get ready by the 14th. Which I hope they will be so. I have 3 and a refresher on Weds as well as jessie for his nitrox. Tomorrow I head to the river with Mike for his wreck and deeps stuff and on Tues his search and recovery stuff as we go and recover some customers stuff off some of the wrecks.
The customers will be happy as we return items unlike some ops that used to nail stuff to the dive shop wall to show off trophies. A good day as the sun came out and we headed to the compound for some bbq and drinks.

So one of my diving buddies and comrade suffers as well and does a lot of diving with me, which is quite enjoyable and helps me understand what is going on in my head. Knowing someone else outside the military circle suffering at times eases me. So today I got to the gym a little late and still got in about 25 kms before heading to the store to get my stuff sorted out for a photoshoot on the Munson. John and Chris joined me as well and as both are striving to improve and as I get comfortable judging smaller errors it’s starting to be a little easier as well.
Meanwhile David and the gang were hanging and banging at the quarry where he was finishing the classroom/pool like conditions portion. I will take over on Thursday testing and hopefully on Friday finish them off . I think it’s going to be fun last time I had a bunch of teen girls it was easier then the parents, so hopefully the same result.

Kingston has been an transportation hub since it’s inception. Despite the many bad hands the various forms of government has dealt Kingston it still survives. Railroad travel was a big thing and a major mode of transportation for many a Canadian. Then after the second world war people became mobile and the automobile became king of the road.
After the construction of the Queens Highway 401 many travelers took to the open road at the expense of the ladies of the rail. The Grand Trunk Railway had a small station in Ernestown, a very small hamlet now a part of the City of Kingston. It closed after the highway opened up but still remains standing like many other stations in the region. If one wants to explore it the back window was wide open as well, I think you may need a flashlight to look around though. Take only pictures and memories if you decide to visit.
The full set I took is located here. A comprehensive history of the the station is located here.
Today I actually completed 2 1/2 hours at level 19 on the stair master and was burnt out pretty good making me forget about my need for 12 pills in the am and 3 in the pm. The best thing is that spring is going to come Easter Weekend.
One thing about depression is that you burn out for no explainable reason after a few days of activity. Today was no exception but i still made it to the gym for a reasonable workout and then home for a bit. I then had to get out of bed and do something so off to the back roads I went. Sean was on a Limited Masters Course over at the store and Polly was ill so I had to go alone, which was ok as I needed some time alone anyway. I stopped at an old trucking company and took a series of shots and have to return as there was lots to see. As well yesterday Sean and I visited the Gananoque Boat Works a set of derelict buildings in Gananoque. Enjoy the pics.

So after today’s work out Sean and I headed to the vast unknown to see what we could find today. The day was nice as the sun came out for the 6th day in a row actually eliving my depression quite a bit this week. I was just thinking the day was a wash when we spotted the above beauty and we went to work.
The house was two floors and safe to walk around in which is better then most of the ones I have found in the past but the stairs to the basement had been removed for some odd reason. After the shoot I walked down the back road for a bit and was rewarded finally with a truck with a tree growing out of it. These are rare finds for the UER crowd and I have seen plenty shots but very few of them in Ontario and even fewer outside a recycling yard.

I will be loading the rest of the shots from the site here. Enjoy
Finally some sun, warmth and a piece of mind. Lately I have been getting into the Urban Exploration and have found some neat places and today was no exception. After I finished a brisk 60 KM workout I went home to met the electrician and waited most of the afternoon. Then off for a drive.

So I found this place a while ago and today was the day after playing phone tag with David and waiting for Sean who actually stayed in bed for this sunny day. He deserved a break anyway but spring is coming and we’ll be diving, riding and shooting more sites like this one.
The House is pretty ratty and the roof on the south side is gone most likely due to the hurricane winds from many falls gone by. It had three other buildings on site one a old settler home a small barn and shed. I looked around the house a bit and decided to stick to the ground floor after seeing lots of holes and rotted floors. No need to to get carried away. The find of the day was a whaler row boat from the days of sail on the Great Lakes what it was doing 30 kms from the Lake is a mystery but the tree growing through it didn’t seem to care.

So lately for some odd reason my depression is raging pretty good and people are getting on my nerves for no good reason. Yesterday after my work out a serious one 120KM’s in less then 5 hours which made for a good night’s sleep finally. I was feeling down which has been going strong for over a week so today off for a photo shoot with Polly first we stopped at the greenhouse for some pics then I snuck into the Alcan demolition site for a few shots.
It was neat exploring the site and seeing some garbage that has been laying around for years, tin soda cans, Players Light smoke packs, wooden match boxes and Ceramic conductors. I think I will try some more of this UER stuff in the near future.

So the latest kick I have been on is back to the historical stuff that I like. Mostly Canadian stuff and I really enjoy learning about stuff on where I have been or am at. I have accumulated a few photos as well as some links to archival pictures of places I have been. So this is the first in a series I am working on Now and Then shots.
This week is Feb Fest and I went to City Hall a couple of times to take shots, I even caught the Big Harv the mayor of Kingston chowing down a beaver tail. Beaver Tails are a deep fried donut shaped like a beaver tail.
The interesting thing is that they are from Killaloe Ontario. Anyone from the Ottawa valley will tell you that there’s nothing in Killaloe except a bunch of old hippie draft dodgers from the 60′s hiding out. So it makes sense that they invent a good munchie.
So while taking some shots I remember that shot I like from Marsden Kemp in the 1800′s and got lucky with a bunch of kids playing in snow piles and ice bridges waiting for a Horse and Buggy ride. So I have made it the first in my Now and Then idea.
I have also been working out pretty good and the depression is only rearing it’s head when I get tired in the mid afternoon for a bit. Also Polly made it out for a bit today and I took her to see the goats on Sand Hill but she wasnt in the mood to take anymore shots. So home we went.
I also bought the new bike on Thursday, actually bought it awhile ago just dropped 20 grand on it to keep in in my name. So tomorrow it’s supposed to be above zero so hopefully I will get out after my workout and get some shots in.
